Sitka Favorites

Favorite Food:

Wild Caught Seafood, given to us by Colleen & Rob: halibut, salmon, shrimp, yellow eye...yum!

The Larkspur Cafe - amazing, eclectic, not too expensive (for Sitka prices) brunch and dinner.

Highliner Coffee Company
- delicious bagels, tea, and desserts.

The Backdoor Coffee Shop (behind Old Harbor Books) - sandwiches, dessert, tea, etc.

Best Place for a Beer:

(Not that I can have one right now, but according to Adam the beer here is wonderful!)

Baranof Island Brewing Company - open in the evenings for tasting and purchasing. This beer is not yet being distributed to stores or restaurants.

Best Place to Pick up a Book:

Old Harbor Books, downtown Sitka.

Favorite Trails:

Harbor Moutain - Gavan Hill Trail

Mt. Verstovia Trail

Mosquito Cove Trail (near the ferry terminal)

Loop around Totem Park (when there aren't any cruise ships docked, this trail is very peaceful)

Favorite Cultural / Touristy Spots:

Sitka National Historical Park / Totem Park

Sheldon Jackson Museum - small, but has a lot of info on Tlingit culture as well as other Native cultures throughout Alaska.

We wish that we had time to check out Fortress of the Bear, Sitka Sound Science Center, the Native Dancers, and the AK Raptor Center.
