Spring Semester 2010

(Our group of 2nd Degree BSN students - "white coat" luncheon)

I feel like I'm sprinting through the last semester of nursing school. It has been super fast-paced, stressful, and exciting. I have one more exam in my High Acuity (intensive care issues) class and then it's on to 7 weeks of working with a nurse in the Emergency Department - night shift! At the beginning of the semester I was able to go to Austin, Texas to present my undergraduate research at SNRS (Southern Nursing Research Conference). Graduation is in May, but I'm still trying to finish an independent study course in Microbiology (requirement to graduate). If I can finish my microbiology course (fingers crossed), I am slated to graduate in May and take the nursing board exam (the NCLEX).

Adam has been busy this semester with clinical rotations in Pediatrics, OB/GYN, and now Family Medicine. After his FM rotation he will have several months of Internal Medicine. Next year he will have more clinical rotations before he graduates in May 2011. There is time in his schedule for "away" rotations and we plan to spend a month in Sitka, AK and a month in Anchorage, AK! There is also talk of an international rotation, but we'll have to see about that...

This is a busy and exciting time in our lives with a lot of changes and unknowns for the near future. My goal is to stay focused on the present and take each challenge as it comes. (much harder than it sounds...)

and, if either of you are able to wrap my boots (or the whole bag) up and send em' to Alaska, I have something also to send you guys that's better than snorting lines of gatorade. Seriously. It'll change your life.
